Description of bug:
3 files from the current amslatex \input explicitly mixed case FD files
that are removed with the current latex distribution. Namely, 

grep \\input * | grep \.fd yields (in amslatex/inputs)
amsdtx.cls:\def\allowtthyphens{\input{ot1cmtt.fd}%
amsdtx.cls~:\def\allowtthyphens{\input{OT1cmtt.fd}%
amsldoc.cls:\def\allowtthyphens{\input{ot1cmtt.fd}%
amsldoc.cls~:\def\allowtthyphens{\input{OT1cmtt.fd}%
amsmath.sty:    \input{omxcmex.fd}%
amsmath.sty~:    \input{OMXcmex.fd}%
amstex.sty:  \input{Umsa57.fd}\input{Umsb57.fd}\input{Ueuf57.fd}}

the latest using non-standard FD files is OK and left here for the
convenience of the reader;-)

in latex/amsfonts we find on the other hand:

amsfonts.sty:  \input{Umsa57.fd}\input{Umsb57.fd}\input{Ueuf57.fd}}
amsfonts.sty:    \input{OMXcmex.fd}%

the fix is rather obvious.
